AND THEN SHE LOST HER DAMN MIND...

In an effort to get out of my current state of general ennui, I decided to really shake things up.  I blame the Flosstube for this, specifically Miss Emily from eclecticpossessions. She is one of the first stitchers that I started stalking (um, I mean following) on the damn thing, and as I flipped through her WIP's, one in particular stopped me dead in my tracks.

Herewith is my new project that will be started as soon as I brush my teeth, find my extra strength stitchy glasses, and get all of these supplies tidy and organized...
This is the Angel of Love by Lavender and Lace and I think it is just gorgeous.  Her gown in almost completely beaded, hence the big pile of Mill Hills...that in itself really makes me question my sanity...but I determined to give this a go in the spirit of stretching my wings.

Speaking of wings...here's a better pic.
I even think that I am going to name this beauty.  Moments ago, I immediately thought "l'm going to call her Vaceila".  That was my Mom's name, and for some reason the idea of angels...love...mom...just all fit together nicely.  Besides, I like the idea of saying to myself "As soon as I get this bed changed and this laundry put away I can go play with Vaceila."

So that's the big reveal today, kids.  I am going to spend some time with this today and promise to get back to Olympic Good Stuff in short order.  For today, though, methinks I just want something a little different.

Happy Sunday!  Hope your needles are flying and your playmates are exactly who and what you would wish them to be!

  1. You have finally done it - lost it completely and crossed over to the dark side. I may be a decade older than you, but I stopped overworking my aging eyes with cross- stitch charts well over a decade ago. It is tempting, lovely, worthy...but no. What little sanity I have shall not be driven off by little marks in little boxes. As a retired CPA, I have had entirely enough of little tick marks in little boxes.....
Looking forward to seeing the finished Olympic project, and to watching your progress on the cross stitch angel together with the further diminution of your sanity (lol).
This Sunday is a relaxing day for me, interspersed with fits of hysterical laughter when I pause to contemplate your next project. My sewing needles must start flying this afternoon on the outfit for yet another wedding, so I must find a way to remove myself from the computilator and internets forthwith.
Prayers for you and the furbabies.......

  5. I stitched one of her angels and went through lots of enlarged copies and a dozen highlighters. The finished pieces are spectacular.

  7. I have stitched Angle of Love. It is a stunningly beautiful piece when finished. I think it took me about five months. I stitched all of the floss first, then went back and did all the beading. I also switched out some of the gold thread for gold beads. I did her halo in gold beads but kept the rays in thread. Also I made the fringe on her cape with gold beads and not the thread. It just made more sense to me. You will be so very pleased with the finished piece.

  8. I think you'll really enjoy it. I stitched the Christmas Angel and it took me over a year, but wow! What a finish!

  11. She was my first angel, called her the metal maiden with all the beads. she still hangs in my house and blessed all those who sleep in the guest room. Since then I've also finished In the Arms of an Angel, Angel of the Sea and Spirit Dancer, or Earth Dancer, can never remember the name of that one. Have fun with her, she is fun to work on. I have 3 more angels in my WIP pile :)

  14. I have her ... and I used to have the color conversion to give her a red gown. I sure wish I could find the conversion again. But, she is just as beautiful in blue as she would have been in red. I think you will enjoy her.

  16. You have such courage! For years I have considered Lavender and Lace but I am not as brave as you to take on such intricate work! So I'll stick with my little pieces and look forward to seeing your progress. You do work on such beautiful pieces.

  20. I love the Angel. I saw it on the same floss tube and considered it until I heard there are 4100 beads. Is that possible? Floss tube is addicting, isn't it? Who else do you watch?
    Hugs to your boys.

  23. My mother has stitched many Lavender and Lace angels including the one you're working on. The finished piece is absolutely gorgeous and is probably my favorite. Have fun with it.
