WE'LL BE RIGHT BACK AFTER THESE WORDS FROM OUR SPONSORS...

Today is colonoscopy day, which means I don't have any stitchy updates for you because I was otherwise engaged last night.

Do you think it at all strange that I am loathe to reveal mundane details about myself, yet feel perfectly free to discuss the fact that in a few hours I will be ready (and I mean....really ready) for my close up?

Don't ask me about politics or sex or religion or money, kids, but if you'd like to see the latest surveillance pictures of my transverse colon, they'll be posted on YouTube shortly.

Sheesh.

Actually, my willingness to talk about colonoscopies is because my mom died at the tender young age of 54 from metastatic colon cancer, just a few months after her mother died of the very same thing.  I myself was diagnosed with Crohn's disease about 20 years ago, so...

If you haven't done it yet and your doctor and your family are urging you to do so, I implore you as a daughter and a patient to get it done.  Drink the stuff, eat some jello, and look at it as a cleansing fast that Gweneth Paltrow and other celebrities pay tens of thousands of dollars for.

So please talk amongst yourselves today, my friends.  I'll be back in the saddle tomorrow with updates, I promise.  In the meantime, do something fabulous and tell me all about it.

Woo Hoo!

  5. A colonoscopy is how my Ulcerative Colitis was finally diagnosed. They couldn't figure out what my problem was for about 6 months. Sheesh! I was scheduled for my first one, and it turned out to be timely. Nothing wrong, but it showed the inflammation very nicely. I'm there with you. In spirit only though.

  9. Cleansing is a polite way to describe the violence of pre-colonoscopy purging! Do hope all goes well and the result is good.

  10. Good luck! I had mine without anesthesia. The pitch of my screams must have been pretty high because all the dogs in that area started howling.

  13. Thinking of you .... and hoping all goes well. I had a colonoscopy some years back and found the prep the worst part. I tried ever so hard but could not down the volume of liquid prescribed. I ended up projectile vomiting the dreadful stuff all down me, accompanied of course by bucketfuls of tears :( such a wimp!

  14. Oh my....colonoscopy! I've had two--but I'm fine and glad they exist. Even though that prep is indescribable!!

  15. Praying for a great outcome (the test, not the prep)!! Seriously folks, just do it!! I have a dear friend who almost put it off too long. She had a huge polyp but it had not developed cancerous cells yet. They told another year at most and it would have been cancerous! The whole idea is to catch these polyps early so they can be removed and NEVER develop colon cancer. (Now I will step off my soapbox). Sorry, I am a nurse practitioner so this stuff is all too real to me. Hugs Coni!

  16. "Fond" may not be the right word, but definitely have memories of my first Cy. The tech was the mother of one of my students! Have had two the traditional way and two where I swallowed the little (not so little going down) camera. Gotta love technology! Sending good thoughts, Coni!
