WHAT'S ON YOUR PLAYGROUND TODAY?

Oh, what fun we're having here at Chez Spinster!  I'm not sure why, but I have been stitching my eyeballs out these last few days and have been enjoying every moment of it.

This is Shepherd's Bush "Come Tarry".  It's one of my very favorite pieces, and I hope that I'm smart enough to get this framed and on the wall, rather than let it languish in the FUPPY box once I get it done.

I am pretty sure that what gets me about this one is the saying...."Wisdom tells me I am nothing.  Love tells me I am everything."    It's The Drawn Thread, by the way.

Aunt Chrissy and I are going to get together on Wednesday night to start planning our Olympic stitching.  Since I'm a four-year old and can't wait that long, I thought I would play with this in the meantime.  See the little bunnies?  I'm going to make their little outfits look like US oufits (but without the normal American Airlines meets Ralph Lauren's crazy sister element).

(Stewey wants to know why they haven't approached him to serve on the committee yet.  I keep telling him that an entire delegation of athletes prancing about in silk smoking jackets and cravats would not be good for anybody, but he just mutters something about me being a Philistine and goes back to doing whatever it is that he does to pass the time with his idiot mo-ther.)

Apparently, this is what he does to get away from his idiot mo-ther.

That's it for now, kids.  I hope you're warm and safe and dry and that your very own tummy is toasty!

  1. I just hope the durn toy basket doesn't topple over onto the little darling. Talk about spoiled! (Said the woman who lets her 148 pound dog sit in her lap each night.)

  2. I, too, am an Olympic junkie! There are several projects on my Olympic to-do list--a knitted vest and Barbara & Cheryl's Church Street. I am about 1/3 finished with Church Street and about half finished with my vest. I'm hoping to complete the vest and finish another 1/3 of Church Street. I can't wait to see your progress.

  3. I loved watching and reading your blog during the last Winter Olympics. I love the idea of the Hare Winter in the colors you have chose. I may have to get my stuff out and figure what I will be stitching this Olympics. I love Winter Olympics.

  4. Nice selection of projects! And how cozy it is by the fire...wish I were in front of one stitching instead of being mocked by the sinkful of dirty dishes...

  5. Bee-a-you-tee-full projects! The colors are a perfect blend of all that is good in the stitching world. Quick question: where do you start stitching your projects? I figured out all by my ignorant self that you don't start at the top but I can't tell if you start in the middle or at the bottom? If you start at the bottom, how in the heck do you do that?
Can't wait to see your Olympic stitchiness and maybe you can share Aunt Chrissy's Olympic stitching list as well. :)

  9. I, too , look forward to Olympics and stitching. The thought of my big butt smashed in my stitching chair watching the youth of the world do things that I never ever could do(not even in my youth) for some reason gives me pleasure. I can't help but wonder if cross stitching was an Olympic sport, would I qualify? "And now taking the Gold medal for the most WIPS is Ms Adrian from the United States. Shes had to work hard to defend her title but after many hours of deligent starting new project and a little stitching all her efforts have paid off! There she is needle in hand on the podum, the American Flag waving above....quick side note...it was stitched by Ms Adrian, started at the first Olympic games she attend back in 00 but now all these years later, no longer a WIP it waves proudly. This truly is a proud moment for the USA stitchers" Okay, a stitcher can dream, can't she? P.S. Love the pear pic above the fireplace!!

  10. Wow, I would love to be in front of that gorgeous fire right now, next to Stewey! With the wind chill, it's about -12 in Portland Maine today. Coni, that sampler is lovely. I am still in awe of how quickly you stitch.
