OF SNOW DAYS AND HEAD COLDS

Poor Stewey. He has a little head cold. I was giving him his requisite morning tummy rub when he got a funny look on his face and then proceeded to emit a sneeze that scared him right back under the covers. He keeps sniffling and dabbing his runny nose with his little handkerchief, and if it wasn't so hilarious, I'd feel bad and make him some waffles.

Bad Mommie.

I guess I'm really embracing this whole "Stitch Whatever The Heck I Feel Like" rotation, since I started a new project yesterday: GRACE by Orna Willis. This is a counted canvas piece that I've had in my stash for quite some time, so I figured now was as good a time as any to start playing with it:
Today will be snowy and cold, so it looks like we'll get some more time in the Happy Chair with "The West Wing" series for entertainment. As much as I love this show, it really is a reminder that I am a complete idiot when it comes to the workings of my own country. I'm mortified at how very little I know, so I've downloaded a few books on the 'ol Kindle to see if I can't get myself up to speed.

(I just wish I didn't have to search the kids' section to find ones that I could understand.)

Happy Thursday everybody! I hope that wherever you are, you're warm and safe and dry. (I say this because cold and in danger and wet would really suck, n'est pai?)

  3. Grace looks so colourful!
I gave up on politics ages ago. Admittedly Canadian politics is a dreadful bore...

  4. Good Morning Conni,
Of course I'm still at working (sneaking on the computer) but will be stitching by days end. Your new project is beautiful. Have a great stitchy day.

P.S. Are we looking at a mustard plaster for little Stewey?

  5. Sorry about the nn. I know it's only one n. My fingers did it without asking.

  6. Could you at least keep a supply of handkerchiefs on hand for the poor little chap? He might then not feel so bad about the lack of waffles....

Your politics is the reason I've been here over twenty years and not become a citizen, they are very complicated!

Keep warm and give Mr S. a cuddle from me.

  9. Oh dear I do hope Stewey isn't sneezing anymore. Sneezing and coughing for a pup can be serious. My poor baby, Rory, is just over a bout of kennel cough. The sneezes, coughs and fever really had him down for a few days until he had a 2 rounds of antibiotics and now he's all better.

In the meanwhile enjoy you cozy happy chair and stitch, stitch, stitch.

  10. Stewey would probably love some chicken soup. Grace is gorgeous. I am working so hard to resist canvas work; I already have more xst stuff to do than will last my lifetime. Stay safe and warm

  11. Lovely colors on the new piece.

Poor Stewey. I've sneezed about a million times today, so I kind of know how he feels. First cold in a good 3 years and it's a killer!

  13. Oh dear me... another piece for me to hunt down and buy. Were you a drug pusher in another life??

I would suggest uploading the Federalists Papers to your Kindle to start ~ I love reading those! Let us know what you're looking for, what you've already read, and your faithful readers can post their favorite books on politics and political history for you choose from :)

Tell Stewey that waffles are bad for head colds. He needs lots of fluids, tummy rubs and long naps in the winter sunshine to feel better!

  14. Poor Stewey. You should probably fix him a cup of chamomile tea.

I love all of your counted canvas projects. You may inspire me to try one during 2010.

  15. I wish my disgusting anal retentive brain could take that "stitch whatever you want" attitude. I want to start something new NOW. Maybe I will.

  16. Lately when I come to your blog, I've been hiding my eyes and peeking between my fingers because your pieces are so enabling. I get excited too, not only read about the adventures of Stewey, but to see what new piece you've started or are working on during your "Stitch Whatever The Heck I Feel Like" mood. I hope it continues because I love seeing all these beautiful things.

  17. Coni, don't you just love Orna Willis designs? I've signed up for her new cyber class that will start soon and can't wait! Her colors are so vibrant and enticing. Poor Stewey; I sneezed today too and hope that doesn't mean a cold is coming on. We had snow today in Alabama which did not stick and you would have thought the world is coming to an end. No school, folks stayed home from work, etc. All for a few flurries of snow. I would pull out my Orna tonight and stitch 'with' you but I am watching the best football team in the nation play tonight...Roll Tide! (I know you understand the passion of college football Coni).
