MONDAY MONDAY, BUT FIRST A BRIEF MESSAGE FROM MASTER STEWEY ANGUS WILLOWSWAMP HIS VERY LITTLE SELF

Dear President Obama:
I'd like to apologize to you and all of the passengers aboard Air Force One on behalf of my mother. When she heard the roar of the engines overhead, she ran out into the driveway and started waving to you like a crazy person. This display was sadly accompanied by her unfortunate wardrobe choice...a pair of twenty year old pajamas and a mismatched set of tube socks. I watched in horror as my old lady jumped up and down without a bra on, thus causing her to black both of her eyes. (I applied cold compresses and assured her that the resulting "shiners" would be a badge of honor.) She explained to me that this was indeed a non-partisan jumping up and down, since she did the very same thing a few years ago when President George W. Bush flew overhead. So, please forgive her, Mr. President for ruining what I am sure was a lovely pre-landing luncheon. She's a good person. Really. She is. It's just that she slips out of her invisible fence collar every now and then and I find myself having to account for it later.
Your friend,
Stewey

So I did a little stitching this weekend, but when I snapped the progress pics today I was disappointed at how little I actually accomplished. It felt like I would have more to show you, but alas, I do not. So I suppose this will have to suffice:

I also got the hankering to do a painted canvas, so I kitted this one:

I've learned a very important fact about myself. I always thought that I was completely incapable of stitching painted canvases. Turns out that I'm not incapable, I just need a little help picking stitches. So I have promised myself that I will work on some of the lovely canvases I have up there in the studio, but that I'll do so with the help of a stitch guide. (I justify this by the rationalization that we can't all be experts at everything, can we?) So my hope is that I will be able to incorporate a few more painted canvases into my half-assed rotation system (that changes daily, by the way), so stay tuned.

I'll leave you with a picture of what I assume to be a bird's egg? Stewey stumbled across it when we stepped outside to get the mail today. At first I thought it was one of those candy-coated malt ball thingies that you get around Easter time, but when I reached for it, Stewey promptly smacked my hand away and proceeded to protect the damn thing as if he had laid it himself. Damn dog.

  1. That looks like it might be a robin's egg, judging by the blue colour. Any chance there's a nest nearby?

  2. Love, love, love Cut Glass Dishes. I still need to email Miss L (thanks for the email also - I owe you one back :-)) - it's on my list of LJP's to purchase!

  3. Stewey, cut Mom some slack. I'm sure that there were lots and lots of other people showing their enthusiasm in similar manners when the Presidential plane flew over. It IS a special event in one's life, and should be expressed openly! I'm sure the President is used too it, and more than likely appreciates such patriotic actions! In fact, there might even be a medal appropriate for the injuries she inflicted while demonstrating her love of her country.

As for the stitching, I think that you accomplished quite a bit and it looks WONDERFUL!! Now I'm mighty anxious to enjoy your progress!

And I'm very intrigued by your painted canvas. I've never attempted one, myself, but have been tempted by them! You may just very well be my inspiration!

  4. Oh, and that does look like a Robin's Egg, but if it has been out of the nest for very long, even if you found it, I don't know if it would be hatchable or not.

  5. Stewey, at least she knew Air Force One was coming to town yesterday. I remember almost 22 years ago when the Concorde was flying over a golf course at a low level so they could "see" the course they were going to be playing on.
I was 9 months pregnant at the time and was wondering who would raise the child since we were being attacked from the air. A few minutes later after some discussion with others standing in the parking lot at the grocery store, we all realized what the plane was and who was in it.

As far as stitching, isn't Green Tea a wonderful color to be stitching with.

  6. Oh my gosh, Stewey's message is absolutely hysterical! I haven't laughed like that in a while. What a wonderful dog you have! :)
Love your painted canvas. There are so many good books out there with stitch guides that I'm sure you'll find just the right stitch for it! It looks to me like the egg is indeed a Robin's egg!

  12. Dear, poor, put-upon, Stewey,
I feel your pain. My human goes to her mailbox nearly every day with ungodly pj outfits on, hair splayed in all directions, no bra--breasts hanging to her navel, and face greasy with moisturizer. I'm so embarrassed and hope the fancy dogs in my neighborhood just don't see what a mess she is! So sorry, Stewey, when the President's plane flew over Naples, my human was sleeping.... Go figure.

PS: You're kinda cute in a rough man sort of way.
    Kisses, Miss Clarice (Clara)

  13. Hi Stewey,

When one of the space shuttles flew over our town years ago on the back on a 747 I slept through the whole thing! Otherwise I would have been outside waving. As far as the presidential aircraft, we're kinda used to it around here. Everything eventually goes over us here. :-)

By the way, you might want to write back to Miss Clarice. I've seen her picture on her mother's blog and she's pretty cute... :-)

  14. Hi Coni,

By my very advanced and studied calculations you have completed approximately 1/16 of Cut Glass Dishes. So that's lots of progress!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the painted canvas. And if you run into problems, just ask your local goto guy, Stewey!

And if he is to busy, well then, you always have us! :-)
